3 Tips for Nailing Your Engagement Session
After booking your wedding photographer, the first thing on your list when it comes to photography is your engagement session! These are the perfect time to meet your photographer if you don’t already know them, and get comfortable in front of the camera. Here are some tips for nailing your engagement photos!
First, be clear on the vibe you are hoping for. If you are having a country, barn wedding you probably don’t want engagement photos in a downtown city area with graffiti on the walls and vice versa. Let your photographer know your vision for the backgrounds you hope to have with your session, for example: brick walls, industrial, barn, country, open fields, pathway covered in trees, etc. It’s okay to have more than one location in mind! Variety is a good thing.
Second, choose clothes that you feel comfortable in. If you go shopping for new outfits, go to the store and try things on! Ordering from Amazon is great, but make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to order something else or do a little brick and mortar shopping in case your order doesn’t turn out to be what you expected. Being comfortable in the outfits you choose helps you to feel more confident and natural in front of the camera.
Third, come to the session with a positive outlook. Showing up with negative feelings about how you look or worrying that your partner is going to hate the session will prevent you from relaxing, enjoying yourself and the session, and getting photos back that you love!
