Friday Fives: 5 Things To Do After Getting Engaged

The question was popped- you said yes! WOOHOO!

After all of the engagement excitement settles, you might be wondering, “Now what the heck do I do?” The good news is I am here to help answer those questions with the top five things you should do after getting engaged!

  1. Decide what kind of wedding you want. Large? Small? Do you want to elope just the two of you or have a huge party with 400 guests? This question is something you must answer before making any other decisions about your wedding!

  2. Set a budget. Sit down with your partners and anyone else (parents, etc.) that might be contributing funds to the wedding and get an idea of how much you will have to work with. This is a great time to research average wedding costs in your area, or the average cost of whatever type of wedding you want to have wherever that may be.

  3. Set a date. Unless there is a day you absolutely have to get married on, if your budget is tight, choosing a date in the off season or on a day other than Saturday can help save some big money. Venues are usually cheaper, and some other vendors will give discounts for choosing a non-weekend date.

  4. Reach out to your must have vendors. This can be done when setting a budget if there is a vendor you absolutely must have no matter what the cost. Otherwise, reaching out once you have a date set is the best way to get an accurate representation of pricing as well as availability on the date you’ve chosen. Booking your must have vendors as early as possible is important to make sure someone else doesn’t book your date before you do!

  5. Enjoy the ride! Wedding planning can be crazy, fun, and stressful all at the same time. The most important thing to remember- YOU ARE MARRYING THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE- and everything will be okay :)
